space-tIn this version, Oberon is the king of all the fairies in William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, who is feuding with his wife Titania, the queen of the fairies. They are fighting over a changeling child that Oberon wants to raise as his aide. Titania wants to keep the child because he is the child of Titania’s mortal follower who died and she wants to raise the child for her follower.

Oberon tricks Titania into loving Bottom, using a special flower that makes you meet true love at first sight. Furious that Titania will not give him the child, he puts juice from a magical flower into her eyes while she is asleep.

The effect of the juice is that it will cause Titania to fall in love with the first thing she sees. Titania awakens and finds herself madly in love with Bottom, a weaver that has been given a donkey’s head by Puck.

Meanwhile, two couples have entered the forest: lovers Hermia and Lysander are pursued by Demetrius, who also loves Hermia and Helena, who loves Demetrius.

Oberon sends Puck to put some of the juice in Demetrius’s eyes to make him fall in love with Helena, after he witnesses him rejecting her. When Puck puts the love potion on Lysander by mistake and then on Demetrius, Helena finds herself loved by two men and confusion breaks out.

After Puck straightens out what he has done, and Demetrius discovers that he is really in love with Helena after all, Oberon looks upon Titania and her lover, Bottom and feels sorry for what he has done.

He reverses the spell and when Titania awakes the two reunite. This is where Annenbergs vision begins, when Oberon and Titania reunite in Love, all the fairies and elves celebrate their love.

Venus Triumphant

AA220928-VenusT

My visits to Italy and Greece brought me to the Mythologies:

the story of Venus came into focus.

I visited The city of Pompeii, which was an ancient Roman city near modern Naples, along with Herculaneum and many villas in the surrounding area.

It was mostly destroyed and buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.

It was amazing to walk through the old city, and it was there that the idea for Venus Triumphant was born.

A hint of the Troy conflict, is represented by the live volcano.

The judgement of Paris was a contest between the three most beautiful goddesses of Olympus- Aphrodite, Hera and Athena- for the prize of a golden apple inscribed to “the fairest”.

The story begins at the Wedding of Peleus and Thetis, to which all of the gods were invited, all except for Eris, the goddess of discord. When she appeared at the festivities she was turned away and in her anger cast a golden apple amongst the assembled goddesses addressed “To the Fairest.”

All three goddesses laid claim to the apple–Aphrodite, Hera and Athena. Zeus was asked to mediate and he commanded Hermes to lead the three goddesses to Paris of Troy, to decide the issue. The three goddesses appearing before the shepherd prince, each offering him gifts for favour. He chose Aphrodite, swayed by her promise to bestow upon him Helene, the most beautiful mortal woman, for His wife. The subsequent abduction of Helene led directly to the Trojan War.

The basic eight are all represented on the light side

She is guided by a long satin fabric towards a new and brighter world. The representations of the I Ching and some eastern principles make up many of the pictorial symbols on the light side.

  • The creative – Heaven
  • The receptive – Earth
  • The arousing – Thunder
  • The abysmal -Water
  • Keeping still – Mountain
  • The gentle – Wind and wood
  • The clinging – Fire
  • The joyous – Lake

The joyous lake mist gives rise to the lotus flower.  From ancient times the lotus has been a divine symbol in Asian traditions.

Most deities of Asian religions are depicted as seated on a lotus flower. In Buddhist symbolism, the lotus represents purity of the body, speech and mind as if floating above the muddy waters of attachment and desire. According to legend, Gautama Buddha was born with the ability to walk and lotus flowers bloomed everywhere he stepped.

In the classical written and oral literature of many Asian cultures the lotus is present in figurative form, representing elegance, beauty, perfection, purity and grace, being often used in poems and songs as an allegory for ideal feminine attributes.

Return of the Goddess

AA220920-Goddess

Ancient Greek Goddess whose devotees have gathered to witness the return of the Goddess

A ruined temple dedicated to an ancient Greek goddess, devotees are gathered to witness the return of the goddess herself.  She is happy to see her followers. They waited a long time for her reappearance since the destruction of the temple in a time before this, now in a distant time. She has reappeared to impart wisdom and beauty.

Bridge of Mana

AA220903-Manaspace-t

The rainbow warrior tradition is part of of the shamans journey in worldwide shamanic traditions.

The array of colors from red to violet, is the bridge between the higher and lower natures, heaven and earth.

We are on a “pier” beginning in the foreground with “new life” symbolized by the flowers and baby. Life goes on and the face of the old philosopher heralds the eye on to a group of people focusing on bringing a bolt of lightening down to earth.

This is a group effort and shows the power of group mental telepathy.
